Grow a garden for the greater good PAR and GWA have partnered with the GRO1000 initiative to celebrate outdoor living by bringing community gardens and greenspaces to economically challenged communities. GRO1000’s chief sponsor is The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company with other partners — The U.S. Conference of Mayors, the National Gardening Association, Franklin Park Conservatory,and Plant A Row • Grow a Row. GRO1000 supports ScottsMiracle-Gro’s philanthropic strategy of “Give Back To Gro”.

What is GRO1000?
The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company established GRO1000 as a commitment to install 1,000 gardens and green spaces in the United States and select international sites by 2018. The last installation will be completed in 2018, which coincides with the 150th anniversary of the founding of the company. GRO1000 creates a partnership of national and local groups to collectively advocate for and demonstrate the benefits of gardening and green space development in local communities.

Donate What You Can
Help those in your community and donate extra produce. In today’s economy, many people are in need of fresh produce. Over 49 million Americans live in households that experience hunger or the risk of hunger daily. Almost 17 million people facing hunger each day are children. The Plant A Row for the Hungry (PAR) mission is to provide an avenue for individuals, corporations and over 84 million gardening households in the U.S. to help America’s most vulnerable citizens and the food agencies serving them.

Nothing beats the taste and nutrition of fresh-picked vegetables. Growing and eating from your own garden can:
